As anticipation mounts for the IPL 2026 auction, a staggering total of 1355 players have registered. Scheduled for December 16 in Abu Dhabi, this one-day event will allow players to find a franchise in the high-stakes league.
Among the top attractions, Australian all-rounder Cameron Green is back in the mix after missing the previous season due to injury.
Intriguingly, only two Indian players have registered at the maximum base price of Rs 2 crore. These players are:
| Player | Franchise | Base Price |
|---|---|---|
| Venkatesh Iyer | Ex-KKR | Rs 2 crore |
| Ravi Bishnoi | Ex-LSG | Rs 2 crore |
Venkatesh Iyer was released following a lackluster performance in IPL 2025 where he failed to justify his hefty price tag of Rs 23.75 crore. Meanwhile, Bishnoi was also let go by LSG after a disappointing stint despite being retained for Rs 11 crore prior to the mega auction.
This year, a notable 43 overseas players have also registered at the same maximum base price, highlighting the international interest in the league. A standout among them is Shakib Al Hasan, the veteran from Bangladesh, who is aiming for a reserve price of Rs 1 crore after going unsold in the previous mega auction.
With 77 slots available, including 31 overseas positions, the competition will be fierce. Teams will be looking to balance their rosters and enhance their chances for the upcoming season.
As the IPL 2026 auction looms, fans and analysts alike are eager to witness how teams will strategize around the plethora of talent available. Will past mistakes lead to wiser decisions? Fans will have to stay tuned for the thrilling auction day!
