Ajinkya Rahane Calls for More Opportunities in Test Cricket

Ajinkya Rahane, the former vice-captain of the Indian cricket team, recently expressed his feelings about receiving more opportunities in Test cricket. According to Rahane, experienced players should not be overlooked when decisions are made about team selection.

Rahane’s Test Match Record

It’s been over two years since Rahane last participated in a Test match for India. His last appearance was during the 2023 series against West Indies, where he scored a total of only 11 runs in two matches. Prior to that, he performed notably, scoring 89 and 46 runs in the ICC World Test Championship Final against Australia.

Selectors Lack Communication

After scoring a century in the 2025 Ranji Trophy match against Chhattisgarh, Rahane highlighted a significant issue: he never received any communication from the selectors regarding his exclusion from the Test squad.

“Experienced players should get a fair chance before being dropped. Communication is key,” Rahane stated in an interview.

In his career, Rahane has been a pivotal player for the Indian team. He has played a total of 85 Tests, accumulating 5,077 runs with an average of 38.46, showcasing his potential and importance in the lineup.
