Rajasthan Royals (RR) closed their IPL 2025 campaign on a high, defeating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by six wickets in Match 62 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. The standout of the night was 14-year-old prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi, whose brilliant 57 off 33 balls ensured RR chased down a stiff 188-run target with 17 balls to spare.
Asked to bat first by RR captain Sanju Samson, CSK lost Devon Conway and young Urvil Patel early, courtesy of Yudhvir Singh Charak’s fiery opening burst. Ayush Mhatre (43 off 20) and veteran R. Ashwin rebuilt with a rapid partnership, but wickets tumbled in the middle overs with Yudhvir and Akash Madhwal tightening the screw.
Dewald Brevis (42 off 25) and Shivam Dube launched a recovery, but brilliant death bowling from Madhwal (3/29) and Tushar Deshpande (1/33) limited CSK to 187/8 in 20 overs, leaving runs on the table in the slog overs.
Yashasvi Jaiswal gave RR a flying start, smashing 36 off just 19 balls. But the real story was Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s fearless batting. After reaching his fifty with a six, he was ably supported by captain Sanju Samson (41 off 30) in a match-turning 98-run partnership. Dhruv Jurel’s late blitz (31* off 12) and Shimron Hetmyer’s cameo sealed the deal.
Despite late wickets, RR displayed composure, crossing the finish line in just 17.1 overs, marking their fourth win of IPL 2025 and ending CSK’s campaign on a disappointing note.
Rajasthan Royals conclude their season, while CSK will look to regroup ahead of the next edition. Stay tuned for more IPL 2025 match reports, highlights, and player interviews.
