The Punjab Kings (PBKS) significantly enhanced their squad for IPL 2026 by acquiring four key players during the auction held on December 16, 2025. With a budget of ₹11.5 crore, the franchise utilized ₹8 crore to secure promising talents that bolster their lineup.
Starting with the auction, PBKS targeted young Australian all-rounder Cooper Connolly, successfully acquiring him for ₹3 crore. This 22-year-old talent has already made a mark in 36 T20 matches, amassing 705 runs at an impressive average of 33.57 and a strike rate of 136.36, including three half-centuries and taking 13 wickets.
Next, the franchise reinforced their bowling department by signing Australian left-arm seam bowler Ben Dwarshuis for ₹4.4 crore. Dwarshuis has experience in 13 T20 internationals, where he has claimed 20 wickets, with an outstanding best performance of 4/36. His ability to break partnerships will be vital for PBKS this season.
PBKS also added two uncapped Indian players: Pravin Dubey and Vishal Nishad, both acquired for ₹30 lakh each. Dubey has participated in five IPL games to date, taking two wickets, while Nishad looks to establish himself in the competitive league. These acquisitions reflect PBKS’s strategy of mixing experienced players with emerging talent.
The IPL 2026 season is set to commence on March 26 and conclude on May 31, creating excitement among fans and teams alike. With their recent additions, the Punjab Kings are poised to aim for the title following their runner-up position in the previous season.
